For those guests staying at the lodge, the lodge’s secret waterfall tour can be booked. This encompasses a number of exclusive waterfalls and culminates with a picnic at the breath-taking Manyeleti Waterfall.
Situated just 18km from the lodge is a cluster of dams called Maggsleigh. This magnificent venue is surrounded by forest. At the exclusive Maggsleigh dam we offer a selection of fun activities. These include clay pigeon shooting and archery. If it’s warm, try your hand at kayaking and boating, or simply lounge on a tube while your cooler box of drinks floats next to you.
Fishing enthusiast? Throw in a line and see how many trout you can catch. Enjoy our driving range with a difference – hit floating balls onto a floating green or test your strength and see how far you can drive the ball over the dam and onto the grass on the other side.
The lodge itself has a tennis court and swimming pool, croquet, table tennis, billiards, darts, games room, a private gym and sauna room. If a rousing game of tennis during the day is not quite what you had in mind, try playing a game of night tennis under our flood lights.
Book one of our Apiary tours. The lodge is home to a prolific number of bees, most of which have been herded into 6 hives on the Western slope of the estate. Join our beekeeper and see the bees at work. We provide protective clothing and epi pens just in case.
At your request, we can arrange day trips to the Kruger National Park, or if you don’t feel like travelling, we have the beautiful Mac-Mac pools or the breath-taking Gods Window as an alternative.
If activities are not your cup of tea, feel free to grab a book and curl up on one of the couches in our library.
In summer, the evenings can be spent on the lodge’s patio beneath the stars, and in winter next to a roaring log fire.
From the comfort of your room, you are welcome to book a one-on-one massage with our talented masseuse.
From the lodge, enjoy all the fresh air and scenery that nature has to offer. We have various walks for all levels of fitness. Our Gwala Gwala walk will take you along the side banks of the estate, past caves and through the forest. Occasionally porcupines, buck, rock rabbits and leguaans can be seen. Single forest tracks can be explored all the way down to Cuddle Puddle and back. Take the dirt road to the waterfall and let our staff meet you there with a delicious picnic to enjoy.
We have a number of single track mountain biking routes through the shady forests, as well as designated 4×4 routes. These routes take you through the forests, up and down the mountain and along the magnificent Sabie River.
Forgot your bicycle? We have a limited number of mountain bikes that can be booked beforehand. Permits for all of these trails are available at Mbulwa at no extra costs to you, our guest.
